Do you fix things?
You are invited to become part of a new Repair Cafe trial on the Eastern Shore based at the Warrane Mornington Neighbourhood Centre, 150A Bligh St, Warrane.
Repair Cafes are a global movement that reduces waste, shares skills, and builds connections within the community. To be successful they need many hands to get involved for sharing the organising load as well as creating a pool of repairers to draw on sustainably.
You can read more about Repair Cafes here: www.repaircafe.org/en/about/
The Eastern Shore Repair Cafe organising team are looking for more people to join us and to form a pool of volunteer repairers that will be available to join us on a regular basis eg monthly/bi monthly/quarterly or even just once or twice a year.
If you have repair skills in any of the following areas please get in touch to register your interest:
• Jewellery repairs • Computer repairs • Electronics
• Furniture repairs • Basic bike repairs • Toy repairs
• Simple shoe repair • Garden tool repair/ maintenance
• Clothing and fabrics repairs – sewing, darning, patching, buttons, hemming
• Have we missed something? Please tell us!
If you can join us for a group meeting on Saturday 2nd April that would be even better. Please RSVP to katie@wmnc.org.au / text 0499 078 490.
If you can’t make it to this meeting please still register your interest, simply email katie@wmnc.org.au with your details - including full name, contact number, email, repair skills offered, likely availability e.g. monthly, quarterly, twice a year.
(At this stage we are planning for Repair Cafes to occur on the second Saturday of each month, 1pm-4pm, and we are aiming to kick off with the first one on Saturday 14 May.
For phone enquiries please call Katie on 0499 078 490.
We hope you can join us!
