Plants & produce stalls (including Roscoe’s tomato seedlings!!), scarecrow exhibition, coffee, community and market stalls, live music, free workshops, line dancing, BBQ & more...

All funds raised are going to construct an all-weather multi-purpose gathering space at the garden to welcome volunteers, participants and visitors at the garden.

Scarecrow Exhibition
For a fourth year running we invited local schools to participate in a Springfest Scarecrow Exhibition.
Come and check out their creative efforts and vote for your favourites!
Native Plant Propagation with Anna
Anna will be giving a workshop on propagating native plants with seed collected last summer from our own native plants patch!
With lots of natives in flower you will be able to see examples of many Tasmanian endemics and ask Anna your native plant questions.
Garden Guardians: Parasitoids on Patrol (2 sessions - 9:40am & 11:30am)
With Dr Lynne Forster, Entomologist at University of Tasmania
Take a walk with Dr Lynne Forster to explore how bugs keep each other in check—and how this natural balance could help control codling moths in apple orchards.
We’ll learn about a recent parasitoid release program, use ID sheets to spot beneficial predators, and examine real specimens under the microscope. A hands-on, bug-filled adventure for curious minds!
Biochar Intro with Bill Harvey 10:10 - 10:30am
Have you heard how good biochar is for gardens? It's really good!
Biochar Champion Bill Harvey will explain why how biochar is made and discuss its benefits as a soil conditioner.
Bill will also have some biochar samples on hand to give away
Worm Farms 101: Getting Started with Nature’s Recyclers (10:35)

Curious about composting with worms? This practical demo covers the essentials of setting up and maintaining a worm farm, including what to feed them, how to keep them happy, and how to harvest nutrient-rich worm castings for your garden.

Cymbidium Orchid Separation 11:55am - 12:15pm

Visible Mending Q&A with Nat Mendham 10am - 11am
Holes developing in our gardening clothes can be hard to avoid. But fixing them can add meaning and beauty to our gear.
Nat from Eastside Repair Cafe will have examples of her beautiful visible mending on display and will be welcoming your questions about visible mending. Look for Nat at the Eastside Repair Cafe stall .

Line Dancing Demonstration with Laura Rittenhouse - 11am - 11:30am
If you've ever been curious about Line Dancing, get along to this session with talented dancer and founder of Boots and All Line Dancing, Laura Rittenhouse. A perennial highlight of our seasonal events, all are welcome to jump in and scoot your boots!
Weed Id and Tips 9:30 - 11:30am with Amanda & Annabel
Got a garden weed that you need identified?
Bring your unknown weeds to our free weed ID stall at Harvest Festival!
Please place your weed/s in a sealed bag for assessment by our weed experts Amanda & Annabel. Get the name of your weed and some tips on how best to tackle the weed in question.
Or just bring your questions about the weeds you already know.

Raffle - Grab your tickets at the welcome table between 9:30 and 11:50am. (Main gate on Heemskirk St). Raffle winners announced at 12:15pm!
Grow Bag Packs - When Howrah Nursery closed they generously donated a large number of quality brand new Grow Bags which we will be selling at below retail prices at Springfest. Think about all the container gardening you could do with these puppies!
We will have quality 100L & 150L growbags available for sale.
