Warrane Community Garden Working Bee

Join us for a couple of hours at our regular working bee (the second Sunday of each month)!

Come along and meet members of the planning team and other keen beans contributing to the wellbeing of the garden and its visitors.

All hands are welcome no matter what your level of gardening experience. (Many of us are learning as we go and it’s definitely more fun learning together).

We always have a number of projects we are keen to knock over for varying energy levels and abilities. At our September bee we are focusing on sheet mulching a large area in preparation for the native garden section. This area has been under black plastic for several months now to help kill off the weeds and grasses without using toxic chemicals. It’s time to move the plastic so we will sheet mulch thickly with cardboard and tree mulch to continue to suppress weeds in a way that benefits the soil.

A couple of things that we always ask you to bring are your own reusable cup (tea/coffee/water are provided on day), your garden gloves & favourite weeding tool -if you have one.
For this month if you have a wheelbarrow and/or a shovel you can bring, that would be awesome too.

Look forward to seeing you there!

Please note: Our covid safety plan requires the collection of all attendee names and contact phone number (stored for three weeks before being destroyed). And we ask that you do not attend if you are feeling unwell.
