Bee Hive Monitoring - Yellow Brick Road Honey. 9:40 - 9:55am
Ronnie heralds from China and Andrew's a Kiwi who live with their two beautiful kids Ethan and Sophie in Old Beach. The family started their beekeeping journey about 4 years ago when COVID had them locked down and homeschooling was on everyone’s minds. A flow hive seemed like the easiest way for a bunch of newbies to get into beekeeping, so they dived in!
After two unsuccessful seasons (no honey), Andrew decided to inject some tech into the equation. A self-built solar powered hive monitoring system was the result, that can measure things like weight, relative humidity and temperature.
Andrew will talk about how they’ve used modern technology to assist them in their bee keeping journey and some of the things we’ve learned along the way.
